Start / Drawing / Five Tyres abandoned

There is nothing at all adventurous in this simple silkscreen print. It was the beginning of a project later brought to fruition with the use of computer graphics technology at its infancy in 1964.

The perspective projection of the treads of five tyres in a chronological sequence was intended to provide a template to enable me to cut holes in a copper plate. The uninked pate, when passed through a press, would 'print' the treads in relief.

After some weeks of tedious work the drawing was abandoned, not because it was too difficult or that I felt incapable of the task, but because it was absurdly labour-intensive. The screenprint was made as a souvenir of the idea.
